My plan to break through the plateau
“I’m in a plateau.” “I’m treading water.” “I’m maintaining.”
All three of these phrases have come out of my mouth over the last couple of months. My wife challenged me on where I was with my health and to be honest, I was proud that those were my responses.
Not proud in the sense that I hope to never move forward or lose the remaining weight. But, we are in a time in our life that life is moving fast and furious! Also, for the first time in my life I have been able to honestly say those phrases. And, after losing 95 pounds since April of 2009, I’m proud of that.
I still weight 285ish, and clearly I have a lot of weight still to lose, but we are living a healthy lifestyle most of the time and that is a major improvement.
We have three children under the age of three, my workload has recently doubled, I love researching and promoting topics related to health and finances, and I still need to find a plan to remain healthy.
The new game plan is to wake up and have some time to journal, reflect, pray, read or study (without the kids) and then to head out for a workout. Hopefully, the without the kids part will make my time that more efficient and I can get out for a workout before they wake.
Also, I’m excited to have an online nutrition programto help me plan my meals and keep me balanced.
As I share the research that I find online, I hope people understand that I’m battling to be healthy as well. I’m battling to lose weight. I’m battling to be a father and husband that can provide.
I also believe that it is important to feed your brain with good solid information from a Christian perspective as well as battling the culture norm to become obese and financially weak.
Verse of the day: Titus 2:12“training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in the present age.”
Focus on the words in that verse—training, renounce, self-controlled, upright, and godly. Those words don’t demand perfection at all times, but it does demand discipline. It does demand that you have a plan to move forward.
Will you join me on this journey? Are you moving forward? You motivate me and I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
