Welcome Financial Bloggers (and those who found there way here by circumstance)!

Are you ready for FinCon 2012? I’m disappointed to share that I will not be with you in Denver this year.  At least I won’t physically be there as I had to make decisions on where to spend my money this year.  After all, we are financially minded and sometimes we have to make cuts in our finances to take care of what is really important.

The same is true with our health.  Sometimes, we have to make health a priority and move it to the top of the list.  That is exactly why we (Khaleef, Brad and I) created the Fit For FinCon Challenge. We are under four weeks away from FinCon and it is time to focus on you for once.  Decide to commit to the Challenge and focus on improving your health and see what intense focus can do for you and how you will feel.

If we had the opportunity to meet last year then you probably heard my brief story about my journey with health.  In 2009, I weighed 377 pounds and visibly remembering holding my son Nathan in the hospital minutes after he was born.  I thought to myself, “I’m happy with who I am as a husband, a brother, a son, an employee, and as a Christian, but I’m not happy with who I am physically.”

I knew that Nathan (my oldest son) was going to look-up to me for advice on how to be man.  I also knew that if you put two men next to each other who weighed close to 400 pounds that one of us would have a heart disease, diabetes, bad joints and a several different health problems.  That was not the type of environment that I wanted Nathan to be raised.

I made a change!  I started to exercise and journal my nutrition.  I turned to my blog.  I shared with many of you my struggles, my joys, my tears, my pain and the weight started to fall off.  Pound by pound we celebrated!  Some days, it was ounce by ounce, but we celebrated because my body was changing, my mind was changing, and I was healing the years of abuse I put myself through.

Now, I have lost 110 pounds.  I have maintained that weight loss and I want to continue to reach out and help people.  That is why Khaleef, Brad and I are doing this.  We felt the need to bring to attention that it is possible to have a life change by focusing on your activities on a daily basis.  Are you ready to join us?

This challenge is exactly what you want it to make of it.  Are you wanting to walk, run, lift weights, try an at home fitness video like P90X, Insanity, Slim in Six, or RevAbs?  Do you want to focus on your nutrition? Do you want to make sure you consume enough water?  What is your goal and more importantly, why do you want achieve it?

No matter where you are in your journey, I would love to offer assistance to you.  Feel free to reach out to me via Facebook, Twitter or you can even call me at (708) 362-1136.

Don’t forget to register for the challenge and I look forward to following your journey!
